To support <strong>the</strong> publication and promotion of <strong>the</strong> print journal and "KR Online." Released bimonthly, <strong>the</strong> print<br />
magazine features contemporary poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, literary criticism, translations, and<br />
playwriting. The online magazine features original creative work in addition to author conversations and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
content. A new section of <strong>the</strong> site, "KR Reviews," will consolidate book reviews from both <strong>the</strong> print and online<br />
magazines into a web portfolio, dedicating space to <strong>the</strong> continued publication of reviews and making <strong>the</strong>se<br />
reviews easier to find.<br />
Kore Press, Inc. (aka Kore Press)<br />
$10,000 Tucson, AZ<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> publication and promotion of a new poetry collection, as well as activities to promote a recent<br />
anthology. The press plans to publish a book of poetry by Sueyeun Juliette Lee. In addition, <strong>the</strong> press will<br />
conduct extended outreach and publicity <strong>for</strong> its recent publication "Letters to Our Future: An Anthology of<br />
Innovative Writing by Black Women," including developing new digital content <strong>for</strong> an online archive.<br />
Massachusetts Review (aka The Massachusetts Review)<br />
$10,000 Amherst, MA<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> redesign of massreview.org, as well as <strong>the</strong> publication and promotion of longer-<strong>for</strong>m work<br />
through an e-book series and print anthology. Planned updates to <strong>the</strong> website, such as improved multimedia<br />
integration and a mobile-responsive design, will allow <strong>the</strong> magazine to enhance its online offerings. Through its<br />
"Working Titles" initiative, <strong>the</strong> magazine plans to publish novellas and long-<strong>for</strong>m nonfiction in e-book <strong>for</strong>m, and<br />
will publish a print anthology of past e-book titles.<br />
Milkweed Editions, Inc. (aka Milkweed Editions)<br />
$25,000 Minneapolis, MN<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> publication and promotion of books of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction in print and electronic<br />
<strong>for</strong>mats. Planned books include titles by such authors as Dan Beachy-Quick, Rebecca Dunham, Mat<strong>the</strong>w Eck,<br />
Chris Howell, Alex Lemon, Eric Pankey, Dalia Rosenfeld, and Jan Wagner (in translation from <strong>the</strong> German), as<br />
well as a verse translation of <strong>the</strong> Mayan creation myth. Books will be promoted through author events across<br />
<strong>the</strong> country, as well as through o<strong>the</strong>r means.<br />
New York University School of Medicine (On behalf of Bellevue Literary Press)<br />
$30,000 New York, NY<br />
To support Bellevue Literary Press in <strong>the</strong> publication and promotion of books of fiction and nonfiction in print<br />
and electronic <strong>for</strong>mats. Focusing on work that is concerned with <strong>the</strong> intersection of arts and sciences, planned<br />
books include titles by such authors as Pascale Kramer (in translation from <strong>the</strong> French), Peter LaSalle, Norman<br />
Lock, and John McWhorter. The press also plans to offer an online interview series featuring authors in dialogue<br />
with figures whose work explores <strong>the</strong> ways that <strong>the</strong> arts and sciences can be brought toge<strong>the</strong>r to educate and<br />
inspire.<br />
Nightboat Books (aka Nigthboat Books)<br />
$20,000 Callicoon, NY<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> publication and promotion of books of poetry, including work in translation. The press will<br />
publish books by such writers as Samiya Bashir, Duriel E. Harris, Rosamond S. King, Jared Stanley, Cole Swensen,<br />
and Ali Warren, as well as international writers Aditi Machado (India) and Wilson Bueno (Brazil). Books will be<br />
promoted at book conferences, and through e-newsletters and social media.<br />
