$25,000 Tucson, AZ<br />

To support Project Toge<strong>the</strong>r at <strong>the</strong> ArtWorks Studio. Project Toge<strong>the</strong>r provides opportunities <strong>for</strong> adults with<br />

intellectual and developmental disabilities to articulate grief <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> death of a parent, caregiver, or a close<br />

family member through artmaking in disciplines such as dance and visual arts.The program will integrate<br />

expressive arts with community processes including peer support groups and an art exhibit, where individuals<br />

receive multiple opportunities <strong>for</strong> expression, reflection, and connection during <strong>the</strong> grieving process.<br />

University of Kansas Center <strong>for</strong> Research, Inc.<br />

$35,000 Lawrence, KS<br />

To support a series of multidisciplinary activities utilizing <strong>the</strong> Adaptive Use Musical Instrument. The AUMI is a<br />

software interface that trans<strong>for</strong>ms any electronic device with a camera into a flexible musical instrument that<br />

can be played by people with limited mobility. Participants may autonomously produce <strong>the</strong>ir preferred sound<br />

through movement with <strong>the</strong> AUMI. The range of <strong>the</strong> motion required to access <strong>the</strong> full range of <strong>the</strong> instrument<br />

is adaptable. Activities will include a week-long workshop <strong>for</strong> people with limited mobility, a community<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance with guest multidisciplinary artist Jesse Stewart, and a meeting of an international research<br />

consortium dedicated to fur<strong>the</strong>r development of <strong>the</strong> AUMI.<br />

Utah <strong>Arts</strong> Festival Foundation, Inc. (aka Utah <strong>Arts</strong> Festival)<br />

$15,000 Salt Lake City, UT<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Utah <strong>Arts</strong> Festival. The festival will feature local, regional, national, and international artists<br />

presenting work in disciplines including <strong>the</strong> visual, per<strong>for</strong>ming, media, and literary arts. A commissioning<br />

program will support <strong>the</strong> production and presentation of new works in music and dance. Members of <strong>the</strong> public<br />

also will have <strong>the</strong> opportunity to engage in <strong>the</strong> artistic process through interactive workshops and<br />

demonstrations.<br />

Williams College, The President and Trustees of<br />

$25,000 Williamstown, MA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> creation and presentation of "Served," by Forklift Danceworks. Forklift Danceworks will<br />

collaborate with <strong>the</strong> Williams '62 Center <strong>for</strong> Theatre and Dance to bring toge<strong>the</strong>r students and <strong>the</strong> college's food<br />

service team in <strong>the</strong> creation and per<strong>for</strong>mance of a new work. "Served" will be a dance-<strong>the</strong>ater work based upon<br />

<strong>the</strong> movements of <strong>the</strong> food service workers and per<strong>for</strong>med by <strong>the</strong> food service workers. A toolkit also will be<br />

created as a map <strong>for</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r artists/presenters to create community-based art.<br />

Words Beats & Life Incorporated (aka Words Beats & Life)<br />

$45,000 Washington, DC<br />

To support per<strong>for</strong>ming arts elements of <strong>the</strong> From Sifrs to Ciphers series. American and international artists will<br />

explore contributions made to <strong>the</strong> hip-hop culture by Muslims. Planned activities may include <strong>the</strong>atrical<br />

productions, a DJ showcase, dance per<strong>for</strong>mances, spoken-word and poetry recitations, story circles, and<br />

workshops. Events will take place at venues throughout Washingon, D.C., including at <strong>the</strong> John F. Kennedy<br />

Center <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong>, <strong>the</strong> Howard Theater, <strong>the</strong> Atlas Center <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong>, and Busboys and<br />

Poets, among o<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />

Wormfarm Institute Inc. (aka Wormfarm)<br />

$35,000 Reedsburg, WI<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Farm/Art DTour. The approximately 50-mile, self-guided drive through art installations in <strong>the</strong><br />

working farmlands of Sauk County, Wisconsin, will include a variety of ways <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> public to interact with both<br />

artists and local farmers. Featured activities may include per<strong>for</strong>mances on farms and in pastures, artist-built<br />
