To support Dance/NYC's Symposium, Town Hall meetings, Voices on Race and Dance series, <strong>the</strong> Junior<br />

Committee, and <strong>the</strong> organization's website. The Symposium includes panel discussions, case study<br />

presentations, individual consultations, and interactive workshops to share innovation and in<strong>for</strong>mation,<br />

generate dialogue and <strong>for</strong>m partnerships, and stimulate engagement in New York City dance. Town Halls<br />

generate discussions that are responsive to breaking news, issues, emerging models, or changes in field<br />

leadership. The Voices on Race and Dance series will offer at least three convenings on bright spots <strong>for</strong> racial<br />

equity work in dance, generate short- and long-term public dialogue, and advance thought leadership of creative<br />

communities of color in New York City. The Junior Committee develops field leaders of <strong>the</strong> future by providing<br />

leadership training and professional development <strong>for</strong> emerging artists, managers, and educators. The<br />

Dance/NYC website houses a community calendar, employment in<strong>for</strong>mation, field news, directory of inclusive<br />

workspaces recommended <strong>for</strong> disabled artists, and policy research.<br />

Dance/USA (aka Dance/USA)<br />

$90,000 Washington, DC<br />

To support Dance/USA's core programs during <strong>the</strong> organization's 35th anniversary year. Core programs include<br />

<strong>the</strong> Annual Conference, Dance/USA's Institute <strong>for</strong> Leadership Training (DILT), <strong>the</strong> annual Dance Forum, national<br />

research initiatives, and <strong>the</strong> continued analysis of local dance ecosystems. The Annual Conference brings <strong>the</strong><br />

national field toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>for</strong> panel conversations, training sessions, and per<strong>for</strong>mances, and is planned in<br />

partnership with local dance and arts leaders from <strong>the</strong> host city. DILT is a mentorship program between<br />

emerging and established administrators, specifically leaders from diverse communities. The Dance Forum<br />

convenes <strong>the</strong> dance field around current issues at <strong>the</strong> Association of Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> Presenters conference.<br />

Research and ongoing surveys are expanding to be more inclusive and comprehensive.<br />

DanceNOW NYC (aka DANCE NOW)<br />

$10,000 New York, NY<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> commissioning and presentation of dance works during DANCENOW's Dancemopolitan series.<br />

The commissioned artist series will include <strong>the</strong> presentation of both veteran and emerging choreographers at<br />

Joe's Pub at The Public Theater. Each participating artist also will be offered a residency and paid teaching<br />

opportunities through <strong>the</strong> DanceNow Silo program, as well as <strong>the</strong> opportunity to present <strong>the</strong>ir work through <strong>the</strong><br />

DanceNOW SteelStacks program in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.<br />

DanceWorks, Inc. (aka Pentacle)<br />

$40,000 New York, NY<br />

To support Pentacle's Comprehensive Management Support <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dance Community project. The program<br />

provides mentoring, administrative support (direct staffing and internships), in<strong>for</strong>mation sharing, and technical<br />

assistance to small dance companies and project-based choreographers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,<br />

Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Cali<strong>for</strong>nia. Through <strong>the</strong> initiative, Pentacle helps a diverse, national group of<br />

dance makers become more stable and more connected to new and varied networks to support <strong>the</strong>ir ongoing<br />

organizational and artistic growth.<br />

Dancers' Group (aka Dancers' Group)<br />

$10,000 San Francisco, CA<br />

To support "In Dance," a free print and online monthly publication that promotes dance artists in <strong>the</strong> San<br />

Francisco Bay Area. The publication includes a comprehensive per<strong>for</strong>mance calendar, summer workshop guide,<br />

articles, previews of dance companies, feature articles, personal perspectives on dance, and special interviews<br />

and features. Articles give readers an in-depth, behind-<strong>the</strong>-scenes look at <strong>the</strong> work being created by <strong>the</strong> region's<br />

artists and by those in o<strong>the</strong>r parts of <strong>the</strong> country as well.<br />

Some details of <strong>the</strong> projects listed are subject to change, contingent upon prior <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>Endowment</strong> approval. In<strong>for</strong>mation is current as of<br />

December 7, 2016.
