2015, <strong>the</strong> program will select exceptional artists working with timely documentary practices through an open<br />

call. The resulting exhibition will feature newly commissioned work that explores fact, truth and image making.<br />

The exhibition catalogue will feature illustrations and a scholarly essay by <strong>the</strong> curator. Accompanying public<br />

programs will be organized in collaboration with selected partners.<br />

Jackson Hole Public Art<br />

$20,000 Jackson, WY<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> commission of a series of public art works in Astoria Hot Springs Park. The park, part of a larger<br />

open space ef<strong>for</strong>t by <strong>the</strong> Trust <strong>for</strong> Public Land, has been closed to <strong>the</strong> community since 1999. Selected artists<br />

will receive a stipend to design, fabricate, and install work that reflects <strong>the</strong> uniqueness of <strong>the</strong> hot springs, an<br />

economically important natural resource. The project will include a series of placemaking activities conducted by<br />

local artists and high school students in an ef<strong>for</strong>t to fully engage <strong>the</strong> community in <strong>the</strong> park revitalization.<br />

Kansas State University<br />

$20,000 Manhattan, KS<br />

To support a collaborative project to trans<strong>for</strong>m <strong>the</strong> art of printmaking through chemical innovation. This<br />

endeavor will transfer safer, sustainable technology from <strong>the</strong> electronics and biotech industries into <strong>the</strong> realm of<br />

fine art printmaking. A team of artists and scientists at <strong>the</strong> university will research and develop electrochemical<br />

etching processes and green bio-solvents, empowering artists to create prints in a more effective and controlled<br />

manner. Results will be tested and utilized by a consortium of invited artists, master printers, and educators who<br />

will create a portfolio of prints <strong>for</strong> both a traveling exhibition and <strong>the</strong> education of printmakers.<br />

LAXART<br />

$25,000 Los Angeles, CA<br />

To support implementation of "The Occasional," a multi-venue citywide exhibition and international artist<br />

residency program. The exhibition will include newly commissioned work. Artists will consider Los Angeles as a<br />

city in flux, and will be encouraged to work outside <strong>the</strong> confines of museum or gallery spaces, creating projects<br />

that activate <strong>the</strong> city. The public will be engaged through a series of salons, workshops, discussions, film<br />

screenings, and per<strong>for</strong>mances.<br />

Laundromat Project, Inc. (aka The Laundromat Project)<br />

$40,000 New York, NY<br />

To support artists' residencies and arts education programming at neighborhood laundromats. Artists will<br />

develop and mount site-specific, socially relevant art projects in local coin-op laundries to engage neighbors and<br />

patrons in <strong>the</strong> creative process. Selected through an open call, artists will participate in a six-month long<br />

professional development training series designed to develop, deepen, and put to action a community-engaged<br />

artistic practice. The project will include development of community-responsive educational programming<br />

relevant to each neighborhood and each project.<br />

Light Work Visual Studies, Inc. (aka Light Work)<br />

$40,000 Syracuse, NY<br />

To support a residency program <strong>for</strong> artists, and publication of <strong>the</strong>ir work in "Contact Sheet-The Light Work<br />

Annual." Emerging, local, and international artists working in photography or electronic media will be invited <strong>for</strong><br />

month-long residencies that include facility and equipment access, housing, a stipend, publication of <strong>the</strong>ir work,<br />

and inclusion of <strong>the</strong>ir work on Light Work's online image database. Contact Sheet-The Light Work Annual is<br />

distributed to select curators, directors, educators, critics, publishers, and galleries worldwide.<br />
