Harris Corp. is deploying two turnkey
medium-wave transmission systems for Telediffusion d'Algerie (TDA)
the Algerian authority that runs public broadcasting in the country.
The stations, at F'kirina in the northeast and Sidi-bel-Abbes in the
northwest, are part of a government program to modernize the television
and radio infrastructure. The contract is worth US$15 million.
The project, to be completed in 2009, includes the design and construction
of the two radio transmission stations, the procurement and installation
of towers and antenna systems, as well as the delivery and installation of
600 kW DX Series medium-wave AM transmitters.
"We are very excited about the new Harris transmitters as they provide us
with much lower operating costs, significantly improved coverage and audio
quality, and an opportunity to move towards DRM when this is needed,"
stated TDA Managing Director Abdelmalek Houyou.

Last 981 kHz MW tx unit was delivered by German company Transradio-
Telefunken Berlin.

ARMENIA On 6th and 13th of October heard prgrs of TWR on MW 864 kHz at
1605-1810 UT and 1350 kHz at 1813-2000 and 2100-2200 UT DW in Ar with
cont. sound "bzz" followed by "piu" and again over the speech and mx
during the bc. Everyone may check these freqs and to identifiy the tx from
Armenia. On 1377 and 1395 the sound is normal.
BTW the FS of PRA now is with prgr in Kurdish on MW 1395 kHz at 1600-1630
UT and Home Sce on 4810 kHz and from 1630 UT Home Sce on 4810 and 1395
kHz. Did someone heard ever their bc on 1314 khz?

BELARUS I hear very loud signals these days - from time to time - in our
mornings, like 0600-0800 UT, 7265 kHz compared to the past - is now noted
here with increased signal (never heard such, when SWR Rohrdorf occupied
once this channel).
And also BLR 6070 kHz noted here few days, when BLR was loud and strong
and covered the lower of 6075 DWL UK relay.
