not true.
PROGRAM OF INTERNATIONAL RADIO SERBIA VIA SATELITE 10. December 2007
International Radio Serbia broadcasts a program through the satellite
EUTELSAT 2 as of December 10th. Thus, one of the oldest media houses in
Serbia is even closer to listeners with a program also broadcast on short
waves and the internet, and in 11 foreign languages and Serbian. On this
occasion director of our radio Milena Jokic talked with Sladjana Pavic.
By starting the satellite program, the offer of International Radio
Serbia, former Radio Yugoslavia, is now complete. The program will be
broadcast via satellite 24 hours a day, whereby the informing of the world
public and our Diaspora will be of a better quality, as exists in media
houses in neighboring countries and the world.
This is important as thus the Diaspora and the world public will have
complete information about events in Serbia, which is especially important
today when our country is facing a difficult political situation in Kosovo
and Metohija, says Milena Jokic. Besides broadcasting current political
information which relate to the resolving of the future status of Kosovo
and Metohija, we also focus on informing the world public about Serbia's
cultural heritage, tradition and customs, and most of our cultural
heritage is in fact located in Kosovo and Metohija.
This is why I would like to single out, says Milena Jokic, the
information-political programs in news format at 12.00 am, 3.30pm, and
9.30pm in Serbian, and the one hour long program entitled CULTURAL
HERITAGE which presents the cultural heritage of Serbia, especially from
Kosovo and Metohija. There is also the program FROM GENERATION TO
GENERATION, which with aptly chosen music talks about our customs and
tradition.
According to Milena Jokic, program is once again being broadcast over
short waves to Australia and America, which was interrupted due to
technical difficulties. Listeners also have at their disposal the new
website

which features information in written and audio format about areas such as
politics, economy, culture and sports. Talking about the future of
International Radio Serbia, Milena Jokic said that the best solution would
be to broadcast an international radio program through the RTS public
service, and this program, as a world service, would be financed from the
budget of the Republic of Serbia, which is the world practice.
Thus, as a world service, our radio would become part of the family of
world radio stations, and as part of the global communications system
represent our country, its political strategy and culture, concluded
director of International Radio Serbia Milena Jokic.
