NETHERLANDS David de Jong reports: The mediumwave frequency 1008 kHz has
been taken over by a Christian oriented radio station called 'GrootNieuws
Radio'. This has been announced today by Talpa Radio (owner of Radio 10
Gold) and GrootNieuws Radio. Radio 10 Gold will continue broadcasting for
two or three more weeks on AM 1008 kHz. This has been confirmed to
DutchMedia by a spokesman of Radio 10 Gold. According to the spokesman the
radio station will be replaced for a short while by a promo referring
listeners to other platforms (cable/satellite/Internet/DVB-T).
GrootNieuwsMedia, the company behind GrootNieuws Radio, is owned by F W de
Groot from the Dutch town Goudriaan. Arjen de Heer is one of the
initiators of the project. GrootNieuws Radio will start broadcasting
religious oriented music in a few weeks' time on AM 1008 kHz. By December,
GrootNieuws Radio should be fully operational.
GrootNieuws Radio will broadcast with 200 kW power. The station is
targetting protestants and evangelicals, but also Roman Catholics.
GrootNieuws Radio plans to focus on news that is 'relevant' to the
Christian community. Also opinion, informative and music programming will
be broadcast. The new radio station has no connections with other media
organisations such as Family 7 or Bright FM, but is open for co-operation.
GrootNieuws Radio plans to open the possibility for organisations to hire
airtime to reach their audiences.
De Heer states that there are no concrete plans to broadcast also on other
platforms such as cable, but is interested in broadcasting in DAB+ as this
might be possible in the near future. GrootNieuws Radio is the first
religious oriented radio station that broadcasts terrestrially on AM or FM
24 hours a day in in the Netherlands.

vocal mx to 1200 UT, then pips and YL with possible nx; seemed to go back
to mx at 1210 UT, but signal had already started to fade out. Respectable
S-9 carrier at tune-in, but poor copy due to apparent undermodulation.
Best on USB to avoid the hams below.
