A reminder that Minivan Radio is due to be back on the air from right now,
1600-1700 UT on 11965 via Germany. Anyone confirm, and how is reception
outside the Maldives?

Noted usual powerhouse of CRI English Kashi 500 kW, 308 degrees towards
Europe on co-channel, and a weak UNID station underneath. Though my
location is in the dead zone of Juelich propagation, 500 kms away. I guess
back lobe of Kashi at 128degrees will also reach the South Asia target of
Minivan Radio.

The Maldivian opposition stn has only been available via the Internet
since it stopped SWBCs four months ago in anticipation of winning an FM
licence, but has so far been unable to procure one. It has been decided to
resume SWBCs in the run-up to a referendum in late August on whether
Maldivians want a parliamentary system or presidential system of govt.

GIBRALTAR While quiet during the day, R. Gibraltar, Wellington Front,
1458 kHz starts quivering as other signals reach this area, e.g. Sunrise
R, London; observed from 2132 24 July , BBC WS relay; 54433, but QRM=3 at
times, and this is already good for the London station does put a very
powerful signal down here. Compare with this: 1242-1315, 25 July ,
Spanish, songs; 45444 though typically 45454.

GREECE and 90 m.b.: At 2020 UTC on July 28th only six stations were
heard in the band:
En speaking on 3200 (religious); En on 3320 (songs of Neil Diamond); En on
3345 (Ragae song), plus three Greek pirates on 3280, 3300 and 3335 kHz.

GUATEMALA 4780 R. Cultural Coatan, 1037, July 28. Fabulous 25/S9
signal. Organ mx and several mentions of Coatan. 1037 ID.

4779.96 at 0105-0111, R Coatan, San Sebastian Coatan on Aug 6. Spanish
with announcements by woman then many 'Radio Coatan' IDs, TCs, phone #,
etc by man. Outstanding S8 signal.
4799.78 at 0118-0125, R Buenas Nuevas, San Sebastian on Aug 6. Childrens
song, 'Radio Buenas Nuevas ' ID by man then taking a phone call. Strong S8
signal marred by the ever present CODAR.

HUNGARY On the occassion of the 80th anniversary of broadcasting in
Hungary Antenna Hungaria established a rural radio museum at their
Nyiregyhaza site. The collection includes old radios as well as old
transmitters, complete or representative parts of them. Visitors will be
shown the new TRAM transmitters as well.
