Miraya FM / Mirror FM Khartoum
P.O.Box 69, Khartoum, Sudan
Tel: +249 (0) 1 87087777 Fax: +249 (0) 1 87089465
(wb, Oct 25)
On tuning through 31mb at around 1315 (yes 1315) I came across a
transmission on 9825 that eventually identified as Miraya FM. The language
is unknown but there was a discussion between several male voices in which
Sudan was often mentioned. I also heard details of frequencies, and a
email address that sounded like >www.mirayafm.org< as well as another not
fully recognised. Now - at 1335 UT - there is a programme of Afro-pops.
The signal is a good one and peaking to 9 on my meter with no QRM.
(Noel R. Green-UK, wwdxc BC-DX Oct 25)
Yes, S=9 here in GER too, 50 kW Sofia Konstinbrod tx?
BURKINA FASO 5030 Radio Burkina, 2344-0000* Oct 16, French highlife
vocals hosted by a man with French talk. ID prior to orchestra National
Anthem at 2358. Fair and in the clear until University Network opened as
anthem was played.
(Rich D'Angelo-PA-USA, DXplorer Oct 21)
CANADA [and non]. The RCI facility in Sackville NB is a curtain site -
which gives lots of gain and result in ERPs of several million watts from
modest [?] 100, 250 and 500 kW transmitters [sic - I don't think they have
any 500s gh]. And, the RCI facility is on the famous Tantramar Marsh - a
salt marsh with superb ground conductivity.
(Phil Rafuse, PEI, ABDX via dxld Oct 19)
And it makes for an impressive sight, while traveling on the Trans-Canada
Highway, near the Nova Scotia border. There is a west-bound exit for the
facility off the Trans-Canada, in case you ever wanted to "accidentally"
wander over there. An old road geek like me notices these things.
(John Cereghin-DE-USA, ibid.)
And if one does "accidentally" wander over there, the staff at RCI
Sackville is very happy to give tours. (I think advance notice is
preferred, but it wasn't required, at least when I stopped there in '98.)
Don't try that at a VOA facility!
(Scott Fybush-NY-USA, ibid.; all via dxld Oct 19)
4762.5 Radio Nederland via Sackville, 2334-2357* Oct 16, Dutch language
program featuring multiple IDs and features about the country. Poor to
fair with fundamental at threshold level. Sub-harmonic from leaky
Sackville facility.
4812.5, CBC North Quebec via Sackville, 2316-0005 Oct 14, English service
with letters and magazine features and news at 0000. Nice signal but CODAR
splash. Sub-harmonic heard // to 9625 fundamental channel. Another leaky
Sackville operation.
(Rich D'Angelo-PA-USA, DXplorer Oct 21)
