ABC regionals: 2310 / 2325 / 2485 kHz. Song called "Birds of Paradise"
(sounded like techno mixed with aborigional native music), YL announcer,
and pop music. 2310 kHz came in at a very nice level, with the other two
audible, but nowhere near as strong.
(Ross Comeau-MA-USA, DXplorer Nov 13)
BELGIUM It was announced that the VRT (Flemish Radio and Television)
will keep its analogue AM transmitters on 540 kHz (Radio 2), 927 kHz
(Radio 1), 1188 kHz (Radio 2), and 1512 kHz (RVI) in 2008. This means that
earlier plans to quickly replace the current transmitters and to turn the
1188 kHz into a DRM transmitter have been cancelled.
BHUTAN 6035 BBS (tent.) on Nov 10 from 0030 UT tune w/ woman ann mixing
with L. Voz del Guaviare - latter began to dominate the channel after
0040. Need to tune this earlier to confirm BBS - they always have Buddhist
chanting from just after s/on anmts at 0000 to approx 0030 UT. Pgm sched
for Saturday morning (local Bhutan time) shows a women's program in the
0030 to 0100 UT time slot. At this time of year Bhutan can make it to WCNA
via long path on a good day, and that was last year w/ 50 kW xmtr. S2 and
fading.
BOLIVIA 5952.4 R Pio XII Siglo XX 0030 to 0040 on 9, 8 and 7 November,
(Robert Wilkner-USA, DXplorer, Nov 10)
BRAZIL Something of a mini-opening to Brazil with R. Imaculada Conceicao
4755 kHz fair-poor with Portuguese religious talk between man and woman;
two mentions of Campo Grande on 4894.9 kHz would suggest R. Novo Tempo.
(Jim Ronda-OK-USA, DXplorer Nov 13) No time given, maybe 0200-0300 UT. wb
UNID Brazilian with Portuguese talk and lively vocals at 0224 UT; several
BULGARIA R. Bulgaria: Just rcvd a unique blank QSL-card from RB. This
special 14 by 9 cm double-sided card commemorates the "50 years DX Program
in English of Radio Bulgaria," as stated on the front. Further info states
that it was launched by Dimiter Petrov, LZ1AF, on Nov 17, 1957, still the
present editor. It is not only the longest running prgm in the history of
Bulgarian b/cing under the same name, on the same days, at the same times
and with one and the same DX Editor, but in world terms too, notably 2d
only to the late Alistair Cook's 58-year running "Letter from America"on
the BBC.
There are colourful photos of the DX editor, Rumen Pankov for Broadcast
Tips and five EG staff ancrs who read the DX prgm presently and also the
transmitting site near Plovdiv, about 140 km from Sofia. Certainly a
collector's item, and I, like many, will be listening in to this week's
50th anniversary prgm for that special verified QSL.
