RNW Flevo DRM was finished with it at 2000-2<strong>05</strong>7. 7310 is still on the<br />

books, but not 12040.<br />

A photo collection of the recently closed Chkalovskaya site at Shelkovo,<br />

northeast of Moscow, is again accessible:<br />

Why bother to build something for the antenna tuning equipment when it can<br />

be put into an old car as well? The first picture on the second page is<br />

labelled "German antenna", apparently a mast dismantled somewhere in<br />

Germany in 1945. [LW or MW antenna, wb.]<br />

There were two 150 kW mediumwave transmitters, a Shtorm-S of which until<br />

late 2006 or early <strong>2007</strong> one half carried Mayak on 549 (moved to here from<br />

1998 to replace the previous 500 kW from the Kurovskaya station,<br />

apparently consi<strong>der</strong>ed as too expensive) and a DSV-150 (RV-221) of which<br />

until May 20<strong>05</strong> one half has been used for Radio Orfey (now on FM only) on<br />

1152. This DSV-150 transmitter has already been taken apart; one half went<br />

to Balashikha, the other to Elektrostal (not necessarily for being kept<br />

there).<br />

The shortwave side consisted of four Sneg transmitters, upgraded to 100<br />

kW, in transmitter room 3. They were equipped with separate transformer
