9680 RRI Jakarta, 0950-1055, Sept 15, back on the air for Ramadan. Were
they saving their transmitter for Ramadan or have they been doing
repairs/maintenance for the past 9 weeks? Heard in Basha Indonesia, pop
song and ballad, choral anthem, ToH into Ramadan program, brief Islamic
music, two OM in long conversation about Ramadan and Islam, Jakarta phone
numbers given to call or send "SMS" text, on-air phone conversations,
reciting from the Qu'ran. Poor to fair till ToH, due to QRM from CNR-1
(1000*) on 9675. From 1000-1055 was fair-good, then covered by *1055 of
CNR-1 (jamming CBS Taiwan). Unfortunately during Ramadan the Kang Guru
Radio English (KGRE) program here on Wed. & Sun. (1000-1020) is usually
preempted.
9680 VOI, at 1348 UT on Sept 16. Presumed the station with pop mx and
frequent announcements. Very commercial sound. Clearest signal on this
freq, at this time in recent memory. S3-4 signal w/ excellent audio.
3325 RRI Palangkaraya at 1026 UT Siren SFX, 1027 deep-voiced M anncr,
then Koran from 1027-1033 (that's 5 minutes after sunset). Same M anncr
returned after Koran at 1033, but imposs. to copy. Different M anncr, then
into mx pgm. Went right over the ToH w/mx. W anncr in definite IN came on
at 1103 briefly. Different W anncr, then mx bridge, and back to original W
anncr 1104-1110 (poss. nx). Immediately into Pop song. Some horrible local
static noise took over from 1120 and that was the end of that. Never got
really strong and there was no sign of the other station (R.
Bougainville??) here this morning.
(Dave Valko-VA-USA, hcdx 16 Sept)
3325 RRI Palangkaraya 1257-1325+ Sep 15. Long YL song, sounding almost
religious, past ToH to 1306; then a male announcer spoke, followed by 11
minutes of primitive music with odd vocals and flute accompaniment; the
ancr may have mentioned "Dayak," so this may have been a program for the
Dayak people in the interior of Borneo. Heard this same program a few days
ago at the same time. Can detect a faint carrier from another station
underneath and a few hZ off 3325 which may be Radio North Solomons but RRI
almost always dominates here.
(John Wilkins-CO-USA, DXplorer Sep 16)
3344.96 RRI Ternate 1247-1313 Sep 16. Presumed with vocal music hosted by
YL; ten minutes of talk ensued at ToH, followed by more mx at 1310. Not
very strong but presume this is Ternate back on the after nearly a month
of silence, and a tad higher in freq from their previous 3344.84.
(John Wilkins-CO-USA, DXplorer Sep 16)
