LAOS 6130 Lao National Radio, at 1158 UT on Oct 10. Finally some
propagational hope. First log of season. Still using same sequence of
programming leading up to 1200 UT. Orchestral prelude at tune-in. Gongs
heard at 1200 UT followed by another orchestral theme. Lao announcements
reached fair level on peaks by 1215 UT tune-out.
LITHUANIA 6255 The Mighty KBC, *2200-2222, Oct 6, English/German. IS/ID
at s/on followed by eclectic program of GM pop and polka-like music. Fair.
MEXICO 6184.96 R. Educacion, 0944-0958, Oct 10, Ranchero music. Nice
MICRONESIA 4755.25 PMA - Pacific Mission Aviation - The Cross Radio on
4755 kHz.
4755.25 Pacific Missionary Aviation " a me too log", from 1120 to 1152 UT
om with English sermon at fair but consistent level, after local sunrise.
Picked out only a few words here and there, mention of "Jesus Christ"
twice. 1158 music as was fading out totally.
The New [to me] Drake R8 Synchronous AM held in surprisingly well.
4755.25 PMA Feedback.
I called Melinda Espinosa on Guam this evening (mid-afternoon Guam time) -
she has DSL and can download larger MP3 files but must then create a CD
for forwarding to Pohnpei, since as previously indicated the transmitter
site only has dial-up e-mail access. Melinda indicated that The Cross
station is currently testing - that would explain the all-music format
during some of their broadcasting hours, anyway. The direct e-mail
addresses for the station are
and
The Melinda announcer at the station is obviously a different Melinda than
the administrative person in the Guam HQ office.
4755.26 Pacific Missionary Aviation The Cross, on Oct 8 at 1357 UT - Good
reception finally this morning with excellent modulation. No announcement
except very briefly at 1400 UT by same YL. Really difficult to make out
what she said despite the good reception, though. Otherwise fairly non-
descript EZL music throughout. I'll have to send a clip to the station for
verification. Very clear ID at 1500 UTas, 'You are listening to the Cross,
88.1 (?) FM....'. In fact stronger modulation than the music that preceded
or followed.
4755.25 PMA at 1005-1028 UT preaching in En by M, then mx after 1028 UT.
1100 anncr Melinda w/what appeared to be a short ID sounding something
like "This is Radio Pohnpei...", then pgm of impassioned preaching by M
again. Sounded like the same ID again at 1200 UT, but it had faded by
then. Would've been about 90% readable when it was peaking at 1115 UT if
not for awful CODAR. Best signal of the last 3 days.
(Dave Valko-USA, hcdx Oct 9)
