MOLDOVA [Pridnestrovie] Radio PMR expands international broadcast<br />

schedule.<br />

Propaganda-station "Radio PMR" has expanded its international broadcast<br />

schedule. It now broadcasts in six languages for sixteen hours a day. The<br />

signal is reached in Africa, Australia, Asia, USA and South America.<br />

mediumwave radio station which broadcasts worldwide from the unrecognized<br />

republic of Pridnestrovie has expanded its international schedule to<br />

sixteen hours a day. The move comes as the country prepares to celebrate<br />

its 17th anniversary of independence, which was declared on 2 September<br />

1990....<br />

Effective immediately, Radio PMR (the Trans-Dniestrian Radio from<br />

Tiraspol) has expanded its broadcasting time from 1 to 16 hours on the<br />

mediumwave frequency of 549 kHz. The transmitter of 150 kW is located in<br />

Grigoriopol, and the broadcasting schedule consists of local programmes<br />

mainly in the Russian language, a few short programmes during the day in<br />

the Romanian and Ukrainian languages, and also consists of the relaying of<br />

the Russian radio station "Mayak". Transmissions are on the air from <strong>05</strong>:00<br />

to 21:00 LT (0200-1800 UT).<br />
