When the 1952 revelution managed to declare the Republic of Egypt, in 1952
still the maps used to have both Egypt and Sudan as one country till 1954,
when Sudan declared independence.
But the Q remains, why Wadi el neel on SW - is it some how kind of support
from the Egyptian Government to the Sudanese Government concerning the
Darfur issue !?
I asked an announcer in Radio Cairo and Egyptian TV as well about that new
move of wadi elneel ... and does it have any connection to trying a new
transmitter or something, - and he had no idea about that.
About the number station, yes there's some interfernce with the
"Lincolnshire Poacher" as they use 9251 USB, but it's not picked up here
in Cairo on that freq. I can get only using DXtuners.com
The number station from Egypt is using 9450 and 6140 kHz at the moment.
Radio Nacional Bata, 5005 at 0510 on Dec 11. Very weak - almost no signal
there at all. Noted again at 2214 on Dec 12 but still poor with man in Sp.
Once again missed 15190 kHz religious outlet today Dec 20 in our morning,
when R Africa from Bata is heard usually. Transmissions from Bata
seemingly not regular in past 1-2 months.
ERITREA/ETHIOPIA On 18 Dec 2007 was checking how Eritrea comes through
the Ethiopian jamming 1600-1700. On 8000, Eritrea was jammed by a
distorted radio program, which was best readable on 7999.5 LSB. At times
this jammer changed to a "white-noise mode". On 7175 jammer was playing
afro-pops and at times western disco music. 7100 was jammed by this same
jammer, which hopped from 7175 to 7100 and back again. Maybe Ethiopia was
short of jammers at this time block. Sounded like Eritrean program was in
// on all three frequencies.
(Jari Savolainen-FIN, DXplorer Dec 18)
Both last night and this morning (18 and 19 Dec), a colleague in Nairobi
heard Eritrea on 7100 and 7175 being jammed by a relay of Voice of the
Tigray Revolution. Definite ID (he speaks Tigrinya). This may have been
the same "distorted radio program" that you heard on 8000. This goes some
way to confirming the suspicions that the extra SW transmitters that
Ethiopia has been using in recent months for VO Tigray Rev and Radio Fana
are mainly intended for jamming purposes.
(Chris Greenway-UK, England, ibid., via dxld Dec 19)
On 18 Dec as I reported, the jamming "distorted radio program" was only on
8000. Both 7100 and 7175 were jammed by continuous music as I described.
Today, 19th, when checking (ahh, it was 16-17 UT) all 7100, 7175 and 8000
were covered by a music station. In addition, same African music was at
the time of check also on 7185. I wonder why BBCM hasn't mentioned 8000
for the Eritrean transmissions jammed. This has been on for weeks,
sometimes hopping up and down, sometimes staying on 8000 steadily.
