ZAMBIA 5915 ZNBC, Lusaka, 1844-1857, 17 Nov, Vernacular, AfR. pops;
35433, blocked by R. Slovakia Int'l. at 1857 UT.
(Carlos Goncalves-POR, wwdxc BC-DX Nov 19)
4965 at 0422 UT, The Voice-Africa (Lusaka). English. Some question about
the origin point of this broadcast. It may be via Germany. OM with
contemporary Christian music. Fair.
5915 at 0235 UT, Radio Zambia, *0235-0305 Oct 4, open carrier until
familiar Fish Eagle IS began at 0241. Group singing on National Anthem at
0249. Man with apparent opening ID and announcements but audio was
muffled. A segment of drums which was followed by a woman talking and
group tribal singing. Poor to fair signal but badly muffled audio.
(Rich D'Angelo-PA-USA, NZL DX Times Nov 6)
Heard CVC's new transmitter on 13650 at 1415 with VG signal, lots of
English pop music and talk; later check at 1455 found transmitter off the
air; likely testing for 12/1 launch which will replace all transmissions
>from T-Systems German facilities.
(Joe Hanlon-NJ-USA, dxld Nov 17)
CVC 13650 seems to be on air with normal programming (whatever that is) of
pop style songs, and offers of cuddly toys if you write to them at an
address in Australia at 1645 UT on Nov. 19. I assume this is the Zambia
outlet as I don't hear the two Darwin frequencies of 13635 and 13685 kHz
currently. 13650 kHz is poor strength and going down.
(Noel R. Green-UK, dxld Nov 19)
ZIMBABWE 4828 ZBC Zimbabwe, at 0030 to 0100 UT amazing signal with
African pops, poor on 3396 kHz, 16 November.
(Robert Wilkner-FL-USA, DXplorer, Nov 17)
3396 ZBC, Guineafowl, Gweru, 1650-1658, 18 Nov, Vernacular, talks; 35322
but 2nd best 90 m band Afr outlet at this time after 3215 kHz AWR (tent)
via Talata Volonondry (?), MDG, 1655*, 45333.
(Carlos Goncalves-POR, wwdxc BC-DX Nov 19)
SWRA is currently heard on 7125 kHz, 1700-1900 UT daily with usual
programming that the station posts up on its website. It has not yet been
jammed by the Zim government. But it did suffer interference from the
jammer on 7120 targeting VOP (Voice of the People via RNW Madagascar) for
a few days after 28 Oct change over. That jammer has since left 7120 so
7125 is in the clear with SWRA 1700-1900 UT.
The HFCC schedule B07 lists the following:
7125 1700-1900 52E,53NW WOF 250 160 daily USA MNO MER
USA Administration (maybe the organization behind SWRA originate in USA.
MNO Broadcaster / Broker
MER Frequency Management Organization
Broadcast target zones 52E,53NW.
52 Gabon, Congo, Zaire, Angola
53 Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malagasy
Site is Woofferton UK, 250 kW, direction 160 degrees to target Central
Southern Africa. Can't figure out why Merlin have listed it as
directed[sic] to the USA with Merlin Number One programming. But that is
clandestine broadcasting at its best disguise!
