RBI: I think it should be noted that the beliefs of many people in the<br />

GDR, certainly including the vast majority of GDR radio editors, were one<br />

thing but various realities an entirely different one. Hence also incoming<br />

letters were examined *before* reaching the editorial offices. Many people<br />

here in Germany do not realize (or refuse to acknowledge) this difference,<br />

seriously hampering any research in the history of East German<br />

broadcasting.<br />

60<strong>05</strong> DLR Deutschlandradio Berlin Britz on air again. Noted around 0700 UT<br />

again this morning <strong>Jan</strong> 13. 60<strong>05</strong> kHz txion missed since <strong>Jan</strong> 9th.<br />

DLR technicians and "Transradio Telefunken?" repaired the S4001 unit<br />

already.<br />

This failed transmitter is a Telefunken S4001 without the equipment for<br />

fast retuning. It sits in the main transmitter building of the Berlin-<br />

Britz site:<br />

transmitter sits in the building with the greened-out mercury vapor lamp,<br />

probably in the room with the vertically mounted fluorescent lamp which<br />
