UAE Asianet Radio, UAE moves to 1539 kHz.
Dear Friends, According to a scrolling message on Asianet Satellite TV
their MW Radio station in UAE "Asianet Radio" is changing frequency from
648 kHz to 1539 kHz from Wednesday 8 Aug 2007 as they are increasing
transmitting power.
However 1539 kHz is already used by VOA Urdu "Aap ki Duniya" also from
UAE. So, wonder if VOA also will change the frequency?
So look out on 1539 kHz. The web site of Asianet Radio is

This may be cooerdinated (well, 3 days off) with the R. Asia change from
1557 to 1269 kHz. That's another Malayalam station in the UAE, RAK to be
specific. Could be a 3-way switch, involving VOA winding up on 1557 kHz?
And what on 648? (Glenn Hauser, ibid.)
Re: Asianet Radio, UAE moves to 1539 kHz.
I had Arab music on 1539 at my sunset (2100 UT) here in Rio de Janeiro. I
thought about a late Djibouti transmission, as Aap ki Duniya does not
carry that kind of music. Apart from strong local QRM, signal was fair. Is
Asianet supposed to transmit in Arabic?
(Rocco Cotroneo, Brasil, Aug 9, MWC via dxld)
Here is info on latest changes of MW stations in UAE. Radio Asia, Ras Al
Khaima, UAE noted on 1269 kHz (ex1557 kHz) early this morning at 2344 UT
with Malayalam Film songs.
1539 kHz is shared by Asianet Radio[0300-1300 UT] and VOA Urdu[1400-0200
UT]. Asianet Radio is on at 6.00 am to 7.00 pm as per scrolling message on
Asianet TV; earlier they were 24 hrs on 648 kHz [latter also VOA Persian
Dushanbe-TJK, wb.]. This is followed by VOA Urdu.
The Asianet Radio web page is not updated and still shows as 648 kHz. I
personally have not heard them on new frequency due to AIR Panaji also on
same frequency but another friend has heard it.
By the way, Malayalam which is the language used on Asianet Radio and
Radio Asia is my mother tongue. It is spoken in the Kerala state, South
India. There are lot of expatriates from Kerala in the Middle East.
Wortbeitrag. f/out 0211 UTC.
(wb)
