Radio Bremen site in 1996. Formerly the tx used for combined radio sce of
6190 Radio Bremen / SFB Sender Freies Berlin (Free Berlin Broadcasting
>from ex British Sector of occupied Berlin/Germany, former Nazi WWII
Reichsrundfunk House), in order to serve the German fishery fleet on the
Northern Atlantic Ocean and listeners in communist ex-GDR.
Bremen 6190 10 kW in 1961-1977?, and new Siemens tx of 50 kW from 1978-
1996?
The tx unit did consist two separate sections of 25 kW power, Made by
SIEMENS in Vienna-Austria. One section 'scrapped' to deliver replacement
parts for the remaining unit. No operation instruction manuals were
available, neither at Radio Bremen nor in Vienna. So the technicians
dismantled the tx at Bremen and erected it at Rohrdorf, without advice of
the manufacturer.
Transmissions are mainly fed into a R&S Rhode and Schwarz 90 degree corner
reflector dipole antenna, to get an 'as it were' non-directional pattern.

Once a month during maintenance work on the corner antenna, another
vertical conical reserve antenna is in use, which has extreme DX
characteristics with a very low lobe angle.

Siemens Vienna made tx 7265 kHz decreased to 20 kW of nominal 50 kW unit.
Built up at Rohrdorf in 1996, removed/rebuilt from former Radio Bremen
site (x6190 in 1972-1996 combined with SFB West-Berlin program).
RIZ Zagreb-Croatia made tx, at Muehlacker on 6030 kHz 20 kW, relatively
new technique, erected in 1997/1998. (wb, Sep 21, 2004)
Yesterday the 7265 tx at Rohrdorf was switched off at 0358, observed but
unfortunately not recorded by Walter Eibl. The night before, 6030 could no
longer be heard in Germany after 1900, but I assume merely due to skipping
while the tx indeed was on air until 2205, since this was first-hand
information from SWR engineering. It should be mentioned that they are
really sad about the end of their SW sce, and probably this is obvious
