I forgot to observe when they made the switch from Bayern 1, but presumably this happened at 2200 UT on Oct 7, i.e. local midnight. Apparently Bavarian Open Radio on mediumwave will not be interrupted by any coverage of parliament sessions, sports or other events, since a few days ago a new "Bayern 5plus" channel, dedicated to such programming, has been added to the ARD radio bouquet on Astra 1H. So there is no risk of confused listeners abroad, like it was the case in 1992 or 1993 when DT64 at Berlin received a letter from the UK, asking about the strange talk programming the other evening (it was just a session of the Saxonian parliament, lasting until the late night and thus audible accross Europe thanks to the 250 kW mediumwave relay, with the audio being routed via the former GDR radio studios at Berlin, god forbid!). For the time being the only real programme on Bavarian Open Radio will be on air Mon-Fri 6 PM to 9 PM, i.e. 1400-1700 UT in summer, 1500-1800 in winter. The remaining time is still filled with non-stop music, like it was the case on the predecessing project "Das Modul". This label still appears on the Astra and DAB channels, but apparently it is no longer in use on air, at least at about 2215 I heard an ID "Bavarian Open Radio" inserted between two songs. It's necessary to introduce young people to mediumwave nowadays: "It sounds quite oldschool, but almost every radio can pick Bavarian Open Radio via our mediumwave/AM transmitters. So you can listen to your favourite station also when no PC, satellite receiver or DAB radio is available! Peculiarities: Especially at night mediumwaves behave quite unconventional. After sunset Bavarian Open Radio can become audible on all possible places in Europe, from Portugal to Estonia, while at the same time reception problems may arise at home in Bavaria." And one side-note: Probably the overnight programme ARD-Nachtexpress is known amongst mediumwave listeners outside Germany as well. With the launch of Bavarian Open Radio it is now gone from mediumwave altogether. Vocal music to 1230 UT, then a long Koranic program of uninterrupted recitations to ToH; Jakarta relay followed to 1320, then vocal music to 1400. Nice S-9 peak around 1330 UT. No sign of Tibet or anything underneath. 3266.42 RRI Gorontalo at 1300-1355 UT on Oct 8. Odd wailing, sounding like a small kids' chorus led by a grown-up man; the wailing was totally atonal and non-musical and weird; on the 10-point Strangeness Scale this one rates 9.6. This continued uninterrupted until 1341 when a YL spoke briefly in Bahasa Indonesia, followed by a man doing a solo chant. This indigenous programming ended at 1351, followed by some "normal" Indo music. Nice peak at 1330 but had deteriorated considerably by 1355 UT. Aber als ich um 1845 UTC am Empfaenger war, war ich sehr erstaunt, immer noch Signale aus Japan aufnehmen zu koennen. Nachdem der Stoersender aus dem Osten auf 1413 kHz weg war kam dort JOIF durch. JOQR auf 1134 kHz war nur mit Phaser zu hoeren, JOLF auf 1242 kHz war zeitweise staerker als die Englischen Sender (Frankreich mit Phaser genullt). Leider sendet Italien immer noch auf 846 kHz. Heute morgen (0430-0530 UTC) dann gute Ostkuestensignale (nichts im X- band, Reinhold, vielleicht hoerst Du ja auch mal was im unteren Bereich der MW) und alle guten Signale
