) when a vehicle is going to cross another, at a necessary distance so that this one should<br />

continue its way easily and without danger, and, in any case when a driver lights or switches off<br />

successively and quickly his bright lights to make un<strong>de</strong>rstand that he is dazzled;<br />

c) when a vehicle follows another at a distance of less than 50 m<strong>et</strong>res, except when the driver<br />

wants to show his intention of overtaking by lighting and switching off successively and quickly<br />

his bright lights.<br />

4. Dim lights of motorbikes and mopeds which move on the public way must be used every<br />

time and in all circumstances.<br />

5. The front fog lights of a vehicle can only be used when weather conditions such as fog or<br />

heavy rain reduce visibility at less than about 100 m<strong>et</strong>res or when the vehicle moves on a<br />

narrow public way comprising many curves.<br />

They can replace dim and bright lights.<br />

6. Si<strong>de</strong> lights must be lit at the same time as dim lights, bright lights or fog lights.<br />

7. Reverse lights may be used only during the execution of a reverse, they must not, in any case,<br />

be a nuisance to other drivers.<br />

8. Searching lights can only be lit in the strictly necessary measure and without constituting a<br />

nuisance to other drivers.<br />

III. Indication of direction and speed changing<br />

Article 44:<br />

A driver who wants to perform a manoeuvre or a movement requiring a lateral move and<br />

notably to turn at a junction, leave the road way or stop his vehicle on the left si<strong>de</strong> of the<br />

roadway, must announce his intention clearly and sufficiently in advance at 50 m<strong>et</strong>res<br />

minimum, by means of his vehicle direction indicator(s), or in <strong>de</strong>fault, by making an<br />

appropriate sign with his arm.<br />

This indication must stop when the manoeuvre is performed.<br />

Article 45:<br />

The driver who wants to slow down in a notable way the speed of his vehicle must show that<br />

intention.<br />

That indication must be given by means of stop lights or in <strong>de</strong>fault, by making an appropriate<br />

sign with the arm.<br />

Article 46:<br />

The fact of giving indications of direction or speed changing does not permit the driver not to<br />

respect the obligations which result for him from the position and the speed of other users<br />

Section 16. Use of horns and saf<strong>et</strong>y belts<br />

Article 47:<br />

1. It is forbid<strong>de</strong>n to use horns other than those provi<strong>de</strong>d for by this Decree.<br />

2. The use of acoustic warning signs must be as brief as possible and is only authorised when<br />

circumstances impose it for preventing an acci<strong>de</strong>nt or outsi<strong>de</strong> built-up areas, for warning the
