4. A broken white line means that it is prohibited to every driver to cross it, except on<br />

overtaking, for turning left, for effecting a U-turn or for shifting lines of circulation.<br />

5. When strokes of the broken line become shorter and closer one to the other, they indicate the<br />

proximity of a continued line.<br />

4. When a continuous white line and a broken white one are juxtaposed, the driver must take<br />

into consi<strong>de</strong>ration the nearest line.<br />

The driver who has crossed a broken line and a continuous one juxtaposed in or<strong>de</strong>r to effect an<br />

overtaking may anyway cross them again to resume his normal place on the highway.<br />

5. On a roadway provi<strong>de</strong>d with a traffic lane <strong>de</strong>lineated by large discontinuous white strokes,<br />

slow vehicles and transport service cars have to use the said lane, they may anyway use the lane<br />

immediately on the left in or<strong>de</strong>r to effect an overtaking and on condition that they resume their<br />

normal place on the roadway immediately after the overtaking manoeuvre.<br />

6. The Sectionof the public highway <strong>de</strong>lineated by two broken and parallel white lines, and not<br />

wi<strong>de</strong> enough for automobile vehicles traffic constitutes a cycle lane.<br />

7. A continuous white line may be drawn on the actual bor<strong>de</strong>r of the roadway, pavement or<br />

raised shoul<strong>de</strong>r to ren<strong>de</strong>r them more visible.<br />

8. A broken yellow line drawn on the actual bor<strong>de</strong>r of the roadway, pavement or raised shoul<strong>de</strong>r<br />

means that parking is prohibited on the roadway alongsi<strong>de</strong> that line.<br />

9. A wi<strong>de</strong> and continuous white line may be drawn on the roadway to indicate its fictitious<br />

bor<strong>de</strong>r.<br />

This Sectionof the roadway situated beyond that line is reserved for stopping and parking,<br />

except on highways and roads for automobiles.<br />

The beginning and end of that parking area may be indicated by a cross continuous white line.<br />

The space that vehicles must occupy can be <strong>de</strong>limited by white transversal lines.<br />

10. Except when they are otherwise qualified, longitudinal white lines must be 0.10 m to 0.15 m<br />

wi<strong>de</strong> wi<strong>de</strong>r lines must be 0,40 m to 0,60 m wi<strong>de</strong>.<br />

The length and spacing b<strong>et</strong>ween the strokes of a broken line will measure respectively 1 to 5<br />

and 3 to 15 m.<br />

11. Longitudinal white lines may be replaced by studs, in conformity with the following<br />

prescriptions:<br />

a) a continued white line is constituted by white or m<strong>et</strong>allic coloured studs placed at short and<br />

regular distance one from the other;<br />

b) a discontinued white line is constituted by white and m<strong>et</strong>allic coloured studs placed at short<br />

and' regular distance one from the other, the different groups being themselves separated one<br />

from the other by a slightly longer distance.<br />

12. Provisional marks constituted by orange coloured studs may replace continuous and broken<br />

longitudinal white lines following the distinctions specified in paragraph 11 of this Article.<br />

Provisional marks cancel out the effect of white longitudinal marks drawn, on the same spot.<br />

Section 2. Cross marks<br />

Article 111:<br />

1. A continuous white and wi<strong>de</strong> line drawn perpendicularly to the bor<strong>de</strong>r of the roadway<br />

indicates the spot where the drivers must stop to obey signal n° B,2 or B,2b (stop) or a traffic
