The braking <strong>de</strong>vices must allow to slow down the vehicle and to stop it in sure, quick and<br />

efficient manner, whatever be the conditions of its loading and the up or down slope of the way<br />

it uses.<br />

7. Provisions of paragraphs 1 to 6 of this article are not applicable:<br />

a) to prams or to invalid or sick persons' carriages when pushed by another person;<br />

b) to handcarts, of which the. load weight does not exceed 150 kilos;<br />

c) to trallers with one axle, the authorised maximum weight of which does not exceed half the<br />

empty weight of the towing vehicle;<br />

d) to two wheels' draught vehicles, the loading weight of which does not exceed 1000 kilos and<br />

of which the coupling <strong>de</strong>vice is so ma<strong>de</strong> that the vehicle stops at the same time as the draught<br />

animal.<br />

Chapter 7. LIGHTING AND SIGNALLING OF VEHICLES AND ANIMALS<br />

Section 1. General rules<br />

Article 75:<br />

1. The lighting of any vehicle must be realised in such a manner that no red light or reflector be<br />

visible from the front of the vehicle and that no white or yellow light or reflector be visible from<br />

behind it, except for the reversing light.<br />

2. The lights and the reflectors must be placed in such a way that no part of the vehicle or of its<br />

loading reduces its efficacy.<br />

3. A vehicle can not be equipped with more than two lights of the same <strong>de</strong>nomination, save the<br />

size light or the indicator light.<br />

4. Where a vehicle is provi<strong>de</strong>d with two or more lights of the same <strong>de</strong>nomination, these lights<br />

must be of the same colour and intensity; and they must be placed symm<strong>et</strong>rically about the<br />

median longitudinal plane of the vehicle. This provision is not applicable to the lighting <strong>de</strong>vice<br />

of the back number plate.<br />

5. Reflectors placed at the front of the vehicle must be white coloured, those placed at the back<br />

must be red coloured and those placed on the si<strong>de</strong>s orange or yellow coloured.<br />

6. Several lights of different <strong>de</strong>nominations, as well as reflectors can be grouped or incorporated<br />

in the same <strong>de</strong>vice insofar as each of these lights or reflectors are fixed in accordance with the<br />

provisions applicable to them and that no confusion can occur.<br />

7. No light or reflector can be placed in such a manner that the lowest point of its lighting<br />

surface be below 0.40 m<strong>et</strong>re from the ground level, the vehicle being empty.<br />

This provision is applicable neither to the fog lights no to reversing lights.<br />

8. The electrical installation of a vehicle or a group of vehicles must be realised so that:<br />

1 ° main lights, beam headlights, fog lights, front si<strong>de</strong>lights and the number plate light be put in<br />

service only when the back si<strong>de</strong>lights of the vehicle or the head lights situated at the extreme<br />

back of the group of vehicle are also in service;<br />

2° the front lights be always on, simultaneously with the si<strong>de</strong>lights, the main lights or the front<br />

fog lights.
