However provision of the first paragraph does not apply to the main lights or the beam<br />

headlights when they are utilised to give more luminous warnings as referred to in Article 47 of<br />

this Decree.<br />

Article 76:<br />

1. a) Vehicles must, each according to its category, be permanently provi<strong>de</strong>d with lights and<br />

reflectors as here after mentioned:<br />

(see Annex VII for vehicles various lights and reflectors)<br />

REMARKS<br />

(1) Headlights and position lights may be ma<strong>de</strong> with one and same projector emitting in front of<br />

the vehicle a white or yellow non beaming light.<br />

(2) Parking lights are compulsory only when the engine capacity is greater that 125 cubic<br />

centim<strong>et</strong>res.<br />

(3) The rear position lights are to be fixed nearest to the left bor<strong>de</strong>r of the vehicle.<br />

(4) Head lights are optional for vehicles of which the engine capacity does not exceed 50 cubic<br />

centim<strong>et</strong>res.<br />

(5) Headlights and position lights are compulsory only when the empty vehicle's climbing speed<br />

can go beyond 20 Km per hour.<br />

(6) Tricycles with engine must be equipped with two position lights in front, and two position<br />

lights at the back and with two back reflectors whenever, due to their width, provisions of<br />

Article 77-3 cannot be complied with only with one light.<br />

(7) Registration number plate lighting is compulsory only where the vehicle must bear such a<br />

plate.<br />

(8) 1. a) Trallers must, in addition, be provi<strong>de</strong>d, at the rear with lights stipulated for towing<br />

vehicles as soon as their dimensions un<strong>de</strong>r these lights become invisible.<br />

b) Priority vehicles must be provi<strong>de</strong>d with a light diffusing a flashing blue light visible from all<br />

directions.<br />

c) Vehicles of which the width is superior to 2.10 m<strong>et</strong>res must be provi<strong>de</strong>d with loading lights.<br />

d) All automobile vehicles especially those assigned to people's transport and comprising, in<br />

addition to the driver's seat, eight seating places maximum as well as all trallers towed by such<br />

vehicles must be provi<strong>de</strong>d with two alternated red and white stripes making a chevron, of which<br />

characteristics are specified in Annex 9 of this Decree.<br />

Any <strong>de</strong>vice having the above-mentioned characteristics, before being put up for sale to the<br />

public, must be authorised by a <strong>de</strong>cision of the Minister having Transports in his duties.<br />

2. Further to lights and reflectors required in pard. 1 of this Article use may be ma<strong>de</strong> of some<br />

other lights and reflectors in accordance with the following provisions:<br />

a) A vehicle can be equipped with long distance lights, foglights, reversing lights and with a<br />

searching light diffusing a white or yellow light.<br />

b) A reflector can be fixed near each si<strong>de</strong>light. One or two reflectors can be fixed on the lateral<br />

si<strong>de</strong>s of the vehicle or of its load.<br />

c) Vehicles assigned to taxi service, with parking on the public highway, may be provi<strong>de</strong>d with<br />

a luminous <strong>de</strong>vice indicating the nature of the vehicle and at the front, with a green light<br />

indicating that the vehicle is free. Vehicles assigned to an automobile driving school may be<br />

provi<strong>de</strong>d with a luminous <strong>de</strong>vice indicating the nature of the vehicle.<br />

d) Vehicles assigned to a public or special bus service may be equipped with white lights used
