Chapter 2. ROADSIGNS<br />

Article 92:<br />

1. Roadsigns inclu<strong>de</strong> the danger and priority signs, the prohibition and obligation signs and the<br />

indication signs.<br />

2. Roadsigns must be so placed on the right si<strong>de</strong> of the road that the lower part of their bor<strong>de</strong>r<br />

be not at less than 1.50 m<strong>et</strong>re or over 2.10 m<strong>et</strong>re above the ground, save provisional roadsigns.<br />

3. The meaning of a roadsign may be compl<strong>et</strong>ed, clarified or limited by additional roadsigns<br />

constituted of rectangular panels bearing symbols' or inscriptions of black colour on white<br />

bottom with a black enclose or of white colour on blue bottom, and placed immediately un<strong>de</strong>r<br />

the sign.<br />

Section 1. Roadsigns for danger and priority<br />

Article 93:<br />

1. Danger roadsigns serve the purpose of warning the user on. the existence of a danger and of<br />

indicating its nature and to impose to him a particular caution so as to adapt his behaviour to the<br />

nature and the seriousness of the danger signalled. Priority roadsigns serve the purpose of<br />

notifying to the public way users particular rules of priority at junctions, they may inclu<strong>de</strong><br />

prohibitions.<br />

2. Danger roadsigns and priority roadsigns are reproduced in Annex I of this Decree, with the<br />

symbols indicating the nature of the danger. They have the form of an equilateral triangle, with<br />

white bottom bor<strong>de</strong>red with red, except roadsigns n°A, 28, a,b, and c, A30; A3 1; B.2a and b;<br />

B.3 and B4, B5, B6, and B7 a and b.<br />

Article 94:<br />

1. Danger roadsigns and priority signs are placed to the right si<strong>de</strong> of the direction followed by<br />

users concerned but where the areas dispositions justify it, a second roadsign, similar to that<br />

which is placed on the right, may be placed on the left si<strong>de</strong>.<br />

2. Outsi<strong>de</strong> the agglomerations, danger roadsigns and priority roadsigns must be placed at a<br />

distance of 150 to 200 m<strong>et</strong>res from the dangerous areas they signal.<br />

Where, because of the areas' layout, the distance which separates the signal from the dangerous<br />

area is less than 150 m<strong>et</strong>res, that distance is shown by an additional signal n° F, 1.<br />

3. As exceptions to paragraph 2 of this Article:<br />

a) Signals n°A,22, B1 and 2 must be placed at the nearest possible place to the junctions they<br />

signal; they may be repeated each by a similar signal placed at a greater distance from the<br />

junction, and shown by an additional signal n°F,1;<br />

b) Signals n° A, 28a, A, 28 b, and A, 28c must be placed respectively at 150; 100 and 50 m<strong>et</strong>res<br />

from the level crossing they signal;<br />

c) Signals n° B, 7a and B, 7b must be placed on the right si<strong>de</strong> of the level crossing they signal.<br />

4. When the signalled danger str<strong>et</strong>ches out over a certain distance, the length of the public way<br />

Sectionconcerned by that danger may be shown by an additional signal n° F,2.
