The sun on the surface of the steel rocket was melting:
Embracing him – Man, were the rays.
All the light pouring into the young face –
Years, centuries, just that he will remain.
Here he is alone, here he is unique,
But there – multiplied, there – fractured
Into a billion billion Y.G.
The verticals of space, of the atmosphere
Like needles through him passed,
Then – free of them once away.
Look – how perfect the movement
Of man on the photograph!
Lift-off – higher and higher (but this not straight away)
He – is the first nail in the heavenly planks
The nameplate on the blue doors
