the Christian Democrats, the main advances during the twenties were made by the
Socialists, the losses suffered during the Nazi regime and the war were suffered by both
groups, and the present is the period of combined effort of the two groups together.
R(osenmayr), who is a devout Catholic but embarrassed by some of the reactionary
actions of the Dollfuss regime, is deeply concerned to find ways to eliminate the
anticlerical feelings in the socialist and labor groups and to bring about a genuine
alliance between the Catholic and Social Democratic groups in Austria.
kennenzulernen. Rosenmayr, heißt es abschließend, ” appears to be an intelligent,
able, and quite intense young man. It is rather doubtful, however, in
view of his background and training and the circumstances at the University
of Vienna that he will shift his interests from theoretical and literary studies
to empirical research.“ In letzterem Punkt sollte sich DeVinney – vorerst –
mußte: ” LR has done no formal work and regards Professor Talcott Parsons
as his chief advisor (TP later reported to LCD that he had not had more than
5 conferences with LR during the year and knew little about the work he had
done). (...) He (i. e. Rosenmayr) has not exposed himself to any empirical work
or research methods. LCD is somewhat disappointed.“ 70 Rosenmayr teilte De-
an der katholischen Fordham University in New York angeboten bekommen
Barry V. Johnston, Introduction,
