4.3 External Ballast resistors
NOTE. This manual uses two synonyms “external Ballast resistors” and
“Crowbar resistors” to refer to external braking resistors.
External resistors are used to dissipate the excess of energy generated at
the power bus in a braking process of electrical motors and cannot be
dissipated by the internal resistor of the module (power supply or compact
drive). These resistors do not require external electrical supply.
ER+TH-x/x resistors with thermostat. Technical data
Independent resistors whose reference is ER+TH-/ are external electrical
resistors used with power supplies and compact drives that have an
internal or external thermostat.

Note that the value for the rms power depends on the following conditions:
Resistor installed vertically with the connection cables at the bottom
and separated from the nearest surface at a distance of at least 10
cm (about 4 inches).
WARNING. Careful with the surface of these resistors. Remember that its
temperature may reach 400 °C (752 °F).
