SAMPLES
Consult the advisory service or website to find out how to
sample and send the specimen.
Samples should be fresh and show early and late stages of
damage.
Insects and fungal fruiting bodies causing damage may be
collected.
For identification of plants/weeds, collect leaves, flowers
and seeds where possible.
If collecting small plants or grasses, collect roots as well.
Do not wrap specimens in plastic or wet them, specimens
rot. Use clean dry paper.
Photographs, digital images and maps assist diagnosis.
Soil and water samples must be in secure containers.
All samples must be clearly labeled.
Diagnostic forms can be downloaded from the laboratory’s
website, filled in and attached to the specimen.
If posting specimens use express post and mark urgent.
Postal address may be different from delivery address.
