As shown in Figure 7, due to the volatility of the fuel price, theprice effect can lead to higher or lower energy consumption. With respect to the fuelintensity effect savings compared to the base year can be observed starting from 1980.The saving effect of prices can be noticed between 1980 and 1985. After 1985 the pricedrop led to an increase in energy consumption. We discuss this aspect in four scenarios using the followingassumptions:In Business as usual scenario (BAU) it is assumed that fuel price is increasing 2.5% peryear, and GDP 2.5%.
