Aftercloning, three hybridoma cell clonesstably producing anti-OAmonoclonal antibody were obtained.Detection of OA concentrations byindirect competitive ELISA wasestablished. The detection limit ofOA was 0.781ng/ml. The level ofOA in shellfish from China wasdetermined using the idc-ELISAmethod. A good correlation(R=0.7963,P‹ 0.001) was observedbetween idc-ELISA and HPLC-MS/MS.PO.10-28Response to small-scaleturbulence by naturalmicrophytoplanktonassemblages along a naturalAlexandrium minutum bloomeventSession: PO.10 - Ecophysiology &autecologyG Llaveria, E Garcés, E Berdalet, NSampedro, S Anglès, Ò GuadayolInstitut de Ciències del Mar, BARCELONA,SpainSmall-scale turbulence is anenvironmental factor that maydirectly affect different physiologicalprocesses of phytoplankton. Mostavailable data have been generatedin the laboratory using monospecificphytoplankton cultures. In thepresent work we used field samplesof a bloom of dinoflagellatesdominated by Alexandriumminutum, Scrippsiella spp. andProrocentrum micans, in differentphases of the succession, and wetested their sensitivity toexperimentally generated smallscaleturbulence.Three experiments, each 15 daysapart, were performed on themicroplankton fraction (15-60 µm) ofthe natural water. The sampleswere distributed in 4-liter sphericalflasks and maintained still orexposed to turbulence generated byan orbital shaker (turbulentdissipation rate epsilon~15 cm 2 s -3 )for ca. 10 days. The response wasevaluated in terms of biomass yield, net growth rate and cyst abundanceof the dominant species.Diatoms, A. minutum andScrippsiella spp. collapsed understill conditions while P. micansgrowth was not favoured byturbulence. Temporary cystformation of A. minutum was224
