LabVIEW is a graphical programm<strong>in</strong>g environment, i.e. a program or virtual <strong>in</strong>strument<br />

(VI) is implemented via the construction of a visual representation of the desired function<br />

rather than through text-based code . . . . The ma<strong>in</strong> two VIs implemented <strong>in</strong> our project<br />

were RECORD.VI and PLAYBACK.VI. RECORD.VI allows the user to write a sequence of<br />

robotic arm positions to a text file. Figure 3 shows the front panel of the VI, which <strong>in</strong>cludes<br />

sliders that move each of the arm’s servos across its full range of motion and a “record”<br />

button to save the arm’s current position. The path for a file to which the recorded<br />

positions will be written is assigned <strong>in</strong> the “Name of the File to Record” box. Each<br />

operation on the front panel corresponds to a tool on the block diagram, shown <strong>in</strong> Figure<br />

2. PLAYBACK.VI plays back a sequence of positions recorded <strong>in</strong> the file specified “File<br />

Our Boltzmann Mach<strong>in</strong>e has two platforms at different levels (see Figure 1) to represent<br />
