AN KARA- Turkey's <strong>de</strong>puty prime minister<br />
Murat Karaya]çm on Tuesday warned that there<br />
Chernishev, who came to the ministry visibly<br />
annoyed, left in a more cheerful mood, but refrained<br />
from making any comment except to say that the me<strong>et</strong>ing<br />
had taken place at Turkey's request and concerned<br />
"bIlateral issues."<br />
"We had a good me<strong>et</strong>ing," he remarked.<br />
The conference, called "History of Kurdistan," has<br />
been organized by the Kurdistan Committee Moscow,<br />
one of the PKK s committee offices that are wi<strong>de</strong>spread<br />
throughout the region. Sources told the TON on<br />
Tuesday that the c~nference opened with two flags flymg,<br />
that of RUSSIa and that of the PKK. Despite<br />
Chernishev's guarantees, Deputv Minister for<br />
Na~iona!ities and Regional Pol~tical Affairs Vladimir<br />
Shlmshlrov atten<strong>de</strong>d the me<strong>et</strong>mg and <strong>de</strong>livered the<br />
opening speech. After Shimshirov, a spokesman for the<br />
PKK, who i<strong>de</strong>ntified himself as "Karnran Hasan from<br />

out a l<strong>et</strong>ter from PKK lea<strong>de</strong>r Abdullah Ocalan.<br />
