ANKARA, 10 jan (AFP) - La CIA a averti les autorités turques de
l'existence de "pt~épat~atifsd'attentat" à Bt~uxelles contt~e le Pt~emiet~ministt~e
turc, Mme Tansu Ciller, avant son départ dimanche pour cette capitale où elle
participe au sommet de l'OTAN, a affirmé lundi le quotidien populaire turc
H,-wt~iyet.
Aucune confirmation ou dém~nti officiel n'a pu être obtenu lundi à Ankara
sur cette information de Hurriyet, datée de Bruxelles, qui affirme également
qu'un important dispositif de sécurité a été mis en place en Belgique pour Mme
Ciller.

Selon le journal qui ne cite pas de sources, l'agence de renseignements
amét~icaine a infot~mé les autot~ités tl.wques et la police belge d'un "plan
d'attentat'" élabor~ par le Parti des travailleurs du Kurdistan (PKK,
'séparatiste) en rébellion armée contre Ankara depuis 1984, et le départ de Mme
Ciller pour la capitale belge a été retardé de deux heures.
Le 1er janvier, des incidents avaient opposé un groupe de manifestants
kurdes pro-PKK venu d'Allemagne et des membres de la communauté turque à Saint
Josse, une des,19 comm'.mes de l'agglomét~ation bt~'.lxelloise,0(1 vivent une
trentaine de milliers de Turcs, faisant 15 blessés dont cinq gendarmes belges.

AN KARA- During two days of
talks between the undersecretanes of
the Turkish and Iraqi Foreign Ministries,
Ankara suggested that the two
sides work on a "rescue operation"
for Iraqi oil and both countries' officials
decided to continue the ongoing
dialogue on the question of the Yumurtahk-Kirkuk
pipeline.
Turkish Foreign Ministry Undersecretary
Ozdem Sanberk told the
Anatolia news agency after the talks '
, that if, as a result of current efforts, a
certain consensus could be reached,
"we could take the matter of emptying
the pipeline to the United Nations.
"We have discussed how to counter,
within U.N. resolutions, the damages
caused by the pipeline's inactivity,"
Sanberk said, stressing that the
talks would continue, if necessary,
between Turkey's state-run pipeline
company Botas and Iraqi officials.
However, Foreign Ministry sources

noted that such 'technical "talks had
been going on for some time and it
was still too early to seek a conclusion
from the recent talks in Ankara. '
Sanberk's Iraqi counterpart Riyadh al-
Qaysi emphasized this point by refusing
to elaborate on the meeting other
than by sayin~ that he was "pleased
with the talks:
"It was not mental calisthenics,we
took up what might be termed as
concrete steps," al-Qaysi was quoted
as saying after the first day of talks in
Ankara.

announced the visit of al-Qaysi. '
Turkey has promised to support the lifting of the U.N. embargo
on Iraq if Baghdad complies with the U.N. Security
Council resolutions on scrapping weapons of mass destruction
and resolving the Kuwall1-lraqi border issue. ,

AI-Qaysi and Sanberk also discussed northern Iraq, where
a de facto Kurdish government rules under protection of an
a1lied force stationed in Turkey against attacks by Baghdad,
a Turkish official said.
According to a diplomatic source, Turkey once again
emphasized the importance it attributed to the territorial integrity
of Iraq and called on Baghdad to "open a dialogue
with no~hern Iraqi leaders, especially Barzani."
Kurdistan Democrat Party leader Masoud Barzani has,
warmed up to Ankara and is currently at war with the outlawed
Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which since 1984 has
been wagi.ng a terrorist campaign against Turkey.
