Türkler tarihi süreç içerisinde gruplar halinde İslam’ı kabul ettikten sonra yeni girdikleri<br />

bu dinin bütün değerlerine gönülden bir bağla bağlanmışlardır. Bu çerçevede<br />

dinî kelime ve kavramlar, sosyal ve kültürel hayatta yer etmeye başlamıştır. İman esaslarından<br />

“kitaplara iman” çerçevesinde Kur’an merkezli bir kitap kültürü oluşmuştur.<br />

Örneğin kitap ciltleri konusunda birçoğu Türk üslûbunun klasik döneminde gelişen<br />

malzemelerine göre; deri, kumaş, ebrulu, murassa, lake ya da süsleme tekniğinden<br />

hareketle de şemseli, zilbahar, yekşah, zerduz, çârkûşe gibi adlandırmalar ortaya çıkmıştır.<br />

After their acception of Islam in groups in the historical process, The Turks have most sincerely<br />

adhered to all the values of this new religion. In this context religious words and concepts have begun<br />

to ingrain in social and cultural life. Within the framework of the rudiments of faith as “faith<br />

in books”, a Qur’an base book culture has been formed. For example, concerning the binding, in<br />

accordance with the materials developed during the classical period of many of the Turkish style,<br />

leather, fabric, marbling, murassa ( a special form in which certain materials and precious stones<br />

such as made of ivory, mother-of-pearl, gold, ruby, jade, emerald and material are fit on to the<br />

cover.) lacquer or on the basis of the ornamentation technique, the names like şemseli (a binding<br />

form, which take its name from the wrought motif on leather, vary according to the style of ornamentation),<br />

zilbahar (an ornamentation, also known as zerbahar, including lines drawn in the<br />

shape of bars by using crushed gold on the cover, it is located in the middle part or on the entire<br />

surface of the cover), yekşah (the motifs are made by pressing on the leather surface with a pointed<br />

metal tool called “yekşah”), zerduz (a binding style which is processed on the leather with the lace<br />

yarn), çarkûşe ( another binding form, coated with velvet or patterned embroidered fabrics, and<br />

the leather surrounded by the edges to make triangular bracket on the corners ) have emerged.
