Orta Asya sahasında göçer evli ve zaman zaman bazı dış
kültürlerle etkileşim yaşayıp farklı inanç sistemleri içinde
yer alsalar da esasen, Gök Tanrı inancına ve animistik dünya
görüşüne sahip Türkler, İslâmiyet’in kabulü ve yaygınlaşması

Türk sanatçılar, İslâmiyet ile uyumlu olarak kendini ifade
etmek üzere daha da hatta aşırı üslûplaşma yöntemini
seçmiş ve sembolik hayvan motifleri soyutlaşarak bitki
görünümüne yönelmiş, dahası, yazı ve geometrik süslemeler,
güzel sanatlarda yeni ve uzun soluklu bir süsleme anlayışı
olarak itibar kazanmıştır. Yukarıda değinildiği gibi,
Türk şehir yerleşiminde köşkler, saraylar, kervansaraylar,
türbeler, köprüler, evler, çeşmeler, medreseler ve özellikle
camiler, sanat dallarının neredeyse her birinin icra mekânı
olmuştur. İslâm dininde hareketli varlıkların tasvirine
yönelik tutucu yorumlar, İslâmiyet sonrası Türk sanat
geleneğinin hemen bütün dallarında taş, ahşap, maden,
kâğıt, toprak, cam malzeme üzerinde figüratif bezemenin
kısıtlanarak bitkisel ve geometrik bezemenin artmasını ve
özellikle hat sanatının da geniş uygulama alanı kazanmasını
doğurmuştur. Zaten Allah’ın kelâmı olan Kur’an- ı Kerim
insanoğluna yazı vasıtasıyla ulaştığı için İslâmiyet’te
yazıya ve güzel yazı/ hüsn- i hat sanatına çok kıymet verilsentation

people by the means of writing,hüsn- i hatmeaning calligraphyhas
been highly valued in Islam. In Anatolia, it is possible to see many
examples such as mosque portals, inscriptions, fountains in which
stone workmanship integrates with the art of calligraphy.Apart
from the architectural examples of stone workmanship, some of the
most common applications are tombstones and high-grade calligraphy
on the tombstones. The examples on the tombstone, which are
very impressive as a relief of calligraphy and are processed like lace,
are collectively found in the cemetery of the Seljuks in Ahlat. Here,
approximately 8,000 small tombstones dated back to the 11th –
14th centuries cover an area of 210,000 square meter.
