In this section, we describe RosettaNet — the leading B2B standard for

7.2.1. What is RosettaNet?
RosettaNet is a consortium of major information technology (IT),
electronic components (EC) and semiconductor manufacturing (SM)
companies, including manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, resellers,
financiers, shippers and end users, working to create and implement
industry-wide e-business process standards. It is creating the electronic
commerce framework to align processes in the IT supply chain.
RosettaNet is establishing common definitions for data and business
processes and dialogs in the supply chain cycle, such as quote and order
entry and query product information. By defining these standard processes
for the sharing of business information electronically, RosettaNet opens
up the lines of communication for every company involved. It is one of
the best examples of an industry standards group that is leveraging
XML to address business needs.
