7.2.2. Components of RosettaNet's
e-business solution
The RosettaNet e-business model consists of:
• Partner Interface Processes — Business processes that define the
interaction among trading partners;
• RosettaNet Implementation Framework — A framework that defines
protocol of networked applications; and
• RosettaNet Dictionary — A set of dictionaries that provides common
coding schemes and standards.
Partner Interface Processes (PIP)
RosettaNet aims to align business processes of supply chain partners
by continuously developing, maintaining and distributing partner interface
processes. RosettaNet's PIPs are specialized system-to-system XMLbased
dialogs that define how business processes are conducted between
IT manufacturers, software publishers, distributors, resellers and corporate
end users.
Each PIP defines how two specific processes, running in two different
partner organizations, will be standardized and interfaced across the
entire supply chain. PIPs include all the business logic, message flow
and message contents to enable alignment of two processes. The partner
companies can implement a subset of PIPs required to address their
specific business interface requirements.
