The PIPs have been grouped in logical clusters (see Figure 7.1) and<br />

segments (see Figure 7.2) as shown in Table 7.1.<br />

A few published RosettaNet PIPs within clusters and segments are as<br />

follows:<br />

Request Account Setup (PIPIAl) — PIPIAl provides au<strong>to</strong>mation support<br />

<strong>to</strong> the process of setting up an account between two trading<br />

partners, by electronically transferring information such as contacts and<br />

locations.<br />

Distribute New Product Information (PIP2A1) — PIP2A1 specifies<br />

the process of distributing new product information <strong>to</strong> buyers so that<br />

enterprise systems can accept product orders. It also specifies the<br />

process for product information users <strong>to</strong> populate the buyer's online<br />

sales catalog.<br />

Request Quote (PIP3A1) — PIP3A1 supports the process between<br />

trading partners that involves requesting and providing quotes.<br />

Notification of Sales Forecast (PIP4A1) — The purpose of PIP4A1 is<br />

<strong>to</strong> au<strong>to</strong>mate the process of issuing a sales forecast notification <strong>to</strong> a<br />

forecast recipient. The periodicity and time horizon of the sales forecast<br />

are cus<strong>to</strong>mizable.<br />

Manage Sales Lead (PIP5A1) — PIP5A1 allows a sales lead origina<strong>to</strong>r<br />

<strong>to</strong> transfer the responsibility of working a lead <strong>to</strong> a sales lead processor<br />

who either accepts or rejects a lead.<br />

An example of a business scenario<br />

Consider a simple business scenario in which the buyer has <strong>to</strong> place an<br />

order with a supplier for a specific part. Both the buyer and supplier<br />

have implemented the RosettaNet Order Management process. This is a<br />

typical example of e-procurement using RosettaNet solution.<br />

The procurement cycle comprises of the following interactions<br />

between the buyer and supplier:
