company's identity, it may make little sense today to set aside inventory or
even consider the bid, because the manufacturer would have to engage in
extensive diligence. As a customer of a financial institution participating
in Identrus, the company could present a compliant digital certificate along
with the Request for Proposal (RFP). The manufacturer could then fully
trust in the identity of the originator of the RFP. If the RFP came with
credit information verified by a participating financial institution's digital
certificate, the manufacturer could rely on that information to determine
the credit-worthiness of its prospective trading partner.
