Implementing a WAP infrastructure with the use of a
WAP gateway
One way to build an infrastructure is to invest in a WAP gateway (see
Figure 12.4). This means that the company must also have a Web server
that is configured for WAP.
Nokia offers this solution to their customers. Typically, a company
that chooses this type of solution can have a modem pool inside to
operate entirely on its own.
Implementing a WAP infrastructure in concert with a
WAP server
This solution is based on the fact that the WAP architecture provides
end-to-end security between the endpoints in the protocol (see
Figure 12.5) which can be done with a WAP Application Server. A
WAP application server is a WWW-server with the WAP gateway
features implemented.
