With webMethods Enterprise as its hub, the Juniper e-business system
is already having a positive effect on the company's results. Juniper
now updates, in real-time, a wide range of information customers can
view over the Web, including customer discounts, promotions, quotes,
quote-to-order status and shipment-to-order status.
As the central control point, the vast majority of business created
by Juniper touches the webMethods Enterprise system. The revenues
have tripled since the system became operational, even though no
employees have been added to its order administration staff. Customers
enter information via the Web and that information immediately
becomes available throughout the company. The process is very
efficient and has eliminated the costly, time-consuming and separate
forecast processes for sales, finance and manufacturing.
Automating the B2B Supply Chain Allows Real-Time ATP
Juniper also enhanced its e-business initiative by integrating trading
partners within its supply chain. The company carries on a virtual
manufacturing operation, outsourcing its manufacturing to vendors,
whose information systems can now be linked directly with Juniper's
via webMethods B2B for RosettaNet. Using the webMethods solution
(see Figure 9.15), Juniper was able to capitalize quickly on standard
