With webMethods Enterprise as its hub, the Juniper e-business system<br />

is already having a positive effect on the company's results. Juniper<br />

now updates, in real-time, a wide range of information cus<strong>to</strong>mers can<br />

view over the Web, including cus<strong>to</strong>mer discounts, promotions, quotes,<br />

quote-<strong>to</strong>-order status and shipment-<strong>to</strong>-order status.<br />

As the central control point, the vast majority of business created<br />

by Juniper <strong>to</strong>uches the webMethods Enterprise system. The revenues<br />

have tripled since the system became operational, even though no<br />

employees have been added <strong>to</strong> its order administration staff. Cus<strong>to</strong>mers<br />

enter information via the Web and that information immediately<br />

becomes available throughout the company. The process is very<br />

efficient and has eliminated the costly, time-consuming and separate<br />

forecast processes for sales, finance and manufacturing.<br />

Au<strong>to</strong>mating the <strong>B2B</strong> Supply Chain Allows Real-Time ATP<br />

Juniper also enhanced its e-business initiative by integrating trading<br />

partners within its supply chain. The company carries on a virtual<br />

manufacturing operation, outsourcing its manufacturing <strong>to</strong> vendors,<br />

whose information systems can now be linked directly with Juniper's<br />

via webMethods <strong>B2B</strong> for RosettaNet. Using the webMethods solution<br />

(see Figure 9.15), Juniper was able <strong>to</strong> capitalize quickly on standard<br />
