Wireless Technologies<br />

The focus of this chapter<br />

Wireless technology will play a crucial role in <strong>B2B</strong> interactions and<br />

transactions. Mobile e-<strong>commerce</strong> is still evolving rapidly while e<strong>commerce</strong><br />

has reached a more mature stage. Global mobile e-<strong>commerce</strong><br />

is projected <strong>to</strong> have revenues of $200 billion by 2004, with 130 million<br />

cus<strong>to</strong>mers and 14 billion transactions annually.<br />

In this chapter, we present the benefits of mobile <strong>commerce</strong>, wireless<br />

application architecture and components including Wireless Access<br />

Pro<strong>to</strong>col (WAP), Wireless Markup Language (WML) and WMLScript.<br />

You will also learn about the security issues involved in wireless<br />

applications, examples of wireless <strong>B2B</strong> applications and integration of<br />

these applications with the <strong>B2B</strong>i infrastructure.<br />
