3. In the third book <strong>of</strong> Testimonies: ' Likewise^ in the<br />

gospel according- to Mark ; " And when ye stand praying-<br />

forgive, if ye have ought against any, that your Father also<br />

which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses ;" '<br />

ch. xi. 25,26. So this gospel is several times quoted in this<br />

work : in other tracts after this manner; ' Whom' the Lord<br />

reproves and blames in his gospel, saying- :<br />

" Ye reject the<br />

commandment <strong>of</strong> God, that ye may keep your own tradi-<br />

tion ;" ' ch. vii. 9.<br />

4. In the first book <strong>of</strong> Testimonies: ' Likewise? in the<br />

g-ospel according* to Luke; "And it came to pass, that when<br />

i^lisabeth heard the salutation <strong>of</strong> Mary, the babe leaped in her<br />

womb, and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost " *<br />

Luke i. 41,42, 4^3. In the tract on the Lord's prayer; ' Which *•<br />

the Lord teacheth iu his gospel, saying :<br />

" Two men Avent up<br />

to the temple to pray, the one a pharisee, the other a pub-<br />

lican," ' to the end <strong>of</strong> the parable, ch. xviii. 10 14.<br />

Again :<br />

' ' So the widow Anna, as it is written in the gospel,<br />

" departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings<br />

and prayers, night and day ;" ' ch. ii. 37.<br />

6. In the first book <strong>of</strong> Testimonies :<br />

' Likewise'' in the<br />

gospel according- to John " ; He came to his own, and his<br />

own received him not. As many as received him, to them<br />

gave he power to become the sons <strong>of</strong> God, even to them<br />

that believe on his name:" ' ch. i. 11, 12. In' the next<br />

book <strong>of</strong> Testimonies he quotes the first five verses <strong>of</strong> this<br />

gospel. In one <strong>of</strong> his epistles :<br />

' Let"' them imitate the Lord,<br />

who near the time <strong>of</strong> his passion was not more proud, but more<br />

humble ; for then he washed his disciples' feet, saying- : " If<br />

I your lord and master have w^ashed your feet, ye also ought<br />

to wash the feet <strong>of</strong> others; for I have given you an example,<br />

that ye should do as I have done ;" ' John xiii. 14, 15.<br />
