exceeds the supply. IT professionals design, develop, support and manage computer software,
hardware, and networks, such as the Internet. There are many opportunities to function as a
systems analyst, network engineer, database administrator, systems integrator or consultant
in industry, government or not-for-profit organizations.
The Major
The Computer Information Systems major allows students to select an area of specialization
through the choice of a minor. Examples include, but are not limited to the following: a student
interested in the business applications of Computer Information Systems can choose the business
concentration; a student interested in the graphical design aspects of Computer Information
Systems can choose a concentration in art; a student interested in writing system
specifications and user documentation can choose a concentration in English; a student interested
in quantitative applications of Computer Information Systems can choose a concentration
in mathematics; a student interested in human-machine interfaces and technology adoption can
choose a concentration in Psychology.

English Major
The English major is offered through Hayworth College by the College of Arts and Sciences’
Department of English-Drama. The English major leads to the bachelor of arts degree. There are
two areas of specialization - literature and creative writing - each offering additional skills as well
as preparation for further study in a range of graduate programs.
Teacher Licensure
A student who majors in English may obtain a teaching license at the secondary level within the
