CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT<br />

The Chemistry program is designed to provide an educational experience with considerable<br />

depth in science and Mathematics.<br />

Majors<br />

The Chemistry Department <strong>of</strong>fers majors in Chemistry and in Biochemistry, both leading to the<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science degree.<br />

Careers<br />

A Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Chemistry or Biochemistry prepares students for a wide variety <strong>of</strong><br />

careers. These careers include research, medicine, pharmacy, pharmacology, forensic science,<br />

laboratory technology, medical technology, dental technology, physical therapy and veterinary<br />

medicine.<br />

Natural science requirement<br />

The natural science requirement is met with CHEM 101 with 101L, or CHEM 111 with 111L.<br />

Writing-intensive course requirement<br />

The writing-intensive course requirement is met with CHEM 305.<br />

Biochemistry Major<br />

Requirements: Students are required to complete 36 hours in the biochemistry major.<br />
