Requirements for Secondary Education Licensure in English (9-12*) are:<br />

Completion <strong>of</strong> the major in English including ENGL 207 & 320 and DRAM 231 or 233.<br />

EDUC 310 Educational Psychology<br />

EDUC 345 Content Area Reading<br />

Plus EDUC 499C Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Internship: Secondary Student Teaching<br />

The Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure Program<br />

The School <strong>of</strong> Education also <strong>of</strong>fers programs for post-baccalaureate, non-degree candidates<br />

seeking initial North Carolina Class "A" licensure.<br />

<strong>Queens</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Charlotte</strong> is approved by the state <strong>of</strong> NC to <strong>of</strong>fer licensure in the following<br />

areas:<br />

• Elementary Education (K-6)<br />

• Secondary Education (9-12) in the areas <strong>of</strong> Biology, English, History, Mathematics and<br />

Social Studies.<br />

• Spanish or French (K-12)<br />

With the exception <strong>of</strong> the student teaching practicum, all education course work can be completed<br />

in the evening. Content area courses required for secondary licensure (9-12) in English<br />

are <strong>of</strong>fered in the evenings. History or social studies (9-12) may be completed at night over a<br />

longer period <strong>of</strong> time. Content courses for licensure in other areas <strong>of</strong> secondary (9-12) and (K-<br />

12) Spanish or French are available for students who can take classes during the day.
