NURS 240 Leadership Development Studies<br />
This course introduces basic principles <strong>of</strong> leadership; management and interdisciplinary team<br />
building. Other topics include conflict resolution, personal and pr<strong>of</strong>essional accountability,<br />
healthcare ethical/legal issues, credentialing and regulation <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional practices. The<br />
student is also introduced to basic research concepts and consumerism. Healthcare trends<br />
and economics are discussed with emphasis on efficient use <strong>of</strong> resources and quality <strong>of</strong> care.<br />
Prerequisites: NURS 100, NURS 118, NURS 124, NURS 217, NURS 219, all general<br />
education requirements. Corequisite: NURS 228. 3 Hrs.<br />
NURS 302 Health Assessment<br />
This course focuses on the holistic assessment <strong>of</strong> healthy individuals. Selected experiences<br />
enable students to integrate knowledge and skills including observation, interview and physical<br />
examination. Prerequisite: BIOL 211. 3 Hrs.<br />
NURS 306 Introduction to Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Nursing<br />
This introductory clinical course focuses on concepts relevant to pr<strong>of</strong>essional nursing practice.<br />
Classroom theory and laboratory experiences lay the foundation for clinical experiences in<br />
selected settings. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional liability fee. Nursing Lab fee. 6 Hrs.<br />
NURS 310 Nursing<br />
A Practice Discipline This non-clinical course focuses on the discipline <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional Nursing.<br />
Concepts relevant to nursing are explored. Prerequisite: Registered Nurse. 3 Hrs.<br />
NURS 330 Adult Nursing I<br />
This course focuses on the etiology, pathophysiology, collaborative and holistic Nursing management<br />
<strong>of</strong> adults experiencing acute and chronic health problems. Students will use critical<br />
thinking to plan interventions appropriate to healthcare needs. Clinical practice takes place in<br />
acute care settings. Prerequisites: Junior status in the nursing major and PSYC 320.<br />
Corequisite: NURS 304. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Liability Fee. Clinical course fee. 5 Hrs.<br />
NURS 332 Adult Nursing II<br />
This course builds on Adult Nursing I and continues to focus on pathophysiology, collaborative<br />
and holistic Nursing management <strong>of</strong> adults experiencing acute and chronic health problems.<br />
Clinical practice takes place in acute care and community settings. Prerequisites: NURS 330,<br />

NURS 334 Maternal and Newborn Nursing<br />
This course focuses on the needs <strong>of</strong> women, newborns, and their families during the childbearing<br />
phase <strong>of</strong> family development. Course content includes health promotion, disease prevention,<br />
and illness management. Clinical practice takes place in a variety <strong>of</strong> community and acute<br />
care settings. 4 Hrs.<br />
NURS 336 Child Health Nursing<br />
This course focuses on the phenomenon <strong>of</strong> child rearing and the care <strong>of</strong> healthy and sick<br />
children within the context <strong>of</strong> family and community. Course content includes health promotion,<br />
disease prevention, and illness management. Clinical practice takes place in a variety <strong>of</strong><br />
community and acute care settings. Prerequisite: NURS 334. Prerequisite or Corequisite:<br />

NURS 350 Directed Study in Nursing<br />
This directed study is designed to encourage students to study a nursing topic <strong>of</strong> interest to<br />
the student and the pr<strong>of</strong>ession. Contract objectives will be developed in consultation with a<br />
nursing faculty who will serve as mentor for the project. 1 or 2 Hrs.<br />
