• Students who successfully complete all licensure requirements including student teaching,<br />

are recommended for licensure by <strong>Queens</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Charlotte</strong>.<br />

• A post-baccalaureate student may take up to 9 credit hours <strong>of</strong> licensure requirements at<br />

the graduate level,<br />

• Once a student elects to enroll in the post-baccalaureate elementary teacher licensure<br />

program, they may not transfer into the graduate MAT program.<br />

PROGRAMS OF STUDY<br />

General Education Requirements<br />

Licensure requires a well-rounded liberal arts background. In most cases the minimum general<br />

education requirements would include courses in the following areas, which must be completed<br />

before beginning the pr<strong>of</strong>essional internship:<br />

• Two courses in composition<br />

• One course in college mathematics<br />

• Two courses in natural sciences <strong>of</strong> which one must be a lab (Area I)<br />

• One course in fine arts (Area II)<br />

• Two courses in humanities (Area III)<br />

• Two courses in social and behavioral sciences (Area IV)<br />

• Two additional liberal arts courses from Area I-IV (they must come from different<br />

disciplines)<br />
