NURS 624 Health Policy<br />

This course will focus on developing a comprehensive knowledge <strong>of</strong> how health policy is formulated,<br />

and how it impacts clinical practice and healthcare delivery. The use <strong>of</strong> the negotiation to<br />

influence the policy process will be discussed. 3 Hrs.<br />

NURS 626 Topics in Health Ministry<br />

This course will require intensive consideration <strong>of</strong> a single topic in health ministries. Topics and<br />

prerequisites will vary depending on the topic and instructor. 3 Hrs.<br />

NURS 628 Informatics in Health Care<br />

This course focuses on developing an understanding <strong>of</strong> the concepts relevant to health care<br />

informatics and the use <strong>of</strong> information technology in healthcare organizations. A main focus is<br />

the use <strong>of</strong> computer applications to support clinical and administrative decision making. Access<br />

to the World Wide Web and an email account are required. 3 Hrs.<br />

NURS 630 Data Interpretations<br />

This course focuses on developing an understanding <strong>of</strong> the concepts relevant to health care<br />

informatics and the use <strong>of</strong> information technology in healthcare organizations. A main focus is<br />

the use <strong>of</strong> computer applications to support clinical and administrative decision making. Access<br />

NURS 632 Research Methods<br />

This course focuses on critical analyses <strong>of</strong> research reports, research methods and the relationship<br />

between theory, research and evidence-based practice. 3 Hrs.<br />

NURS 634 Health Care Practicum<br />

This capstone course includes a 4 credit hour precepted practicum and a 2 credit hour seminar.<br />

In the practicum, students participate in the leadership <strong>of</strong> a health care organization and<br />

conduct a scholarly project to demonstrate synthesis <strong>of</strong> theory, research methods, and innovative<br />

nursing management skills. In the seminar, students examine the ways standards <strong>of</strong> practice<br />

and pr<strong>of</strong>essional performance for nurse administrators are implemented across a variety<br />

<strong>of</strong> health care organizations. Prerequisite: All other MSN required courses. 6 Hrs.<br />

NURS 635 Tchg Methods and Outcome Assesment<br />

This course examines the theoretical and research underpinnings <strong>of</strong> assorted teaching strategies<br />

and methods for evaluating the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> teaching on student learning. Prerequisite:<br />

NURS 632 Research Methods or permission <strong>of</strong> instructor. 3 Hrs.<br />

NURS 644 Nurse Educator Practicum Practicum<br />

In this capstone course, students are precepted by experienced nurse faculty members.<br />

Students demonstrate synthesis <strong>of</strong> knowledge learned throughout the program by participating<br />

in all phases <strong>of</strong> the teaching role including classroom and clinical instruction in either an academic<br />

or practice setting. Prerequisite: All other required MSN courses or concurrently with<br />

final 6 hours <strong>of</strong> coursework. 6 Hrs.<br />

NURS 680 Independent Study<br />

Course is designed to meet individual learning needs that build on current courses in the<br />

curriculum. May be repeated for credit. 1-3 Hrs.
